    Rejoice of a Sorry

Okay, I'm a pervert, and usually confuse my feeling with my complex. An 8-years-ago story about me was, one day my weird action scared off a silly girl in high school, then the guilty-feeling me wrote a gentleman-like "I'm Sorry" note using my warm blood. Such a stupid apology just made me feel strange. WTF! Why did I do that gag that day? The another story is, accidentally I get another feeling on that girl after my damn'd 8 years.

I'm confused about this grown-up girl on my old bloody sorry note. Pretty, smart, and pure as crystal. I really feel what a bad man I am now and then. Look at me. Messed hair, narcissistic, and sick as monster. I shouldn't pollute a white paper.... narcissism again! More important, my Avoidant Personality Disorder (AvPD) always ruin myself. So what'bout that unknown never-so-good feeling of mine? I even dream'd a 2nd-day flying to a city for a dinner with her.

To keep a good feeling or something else, the best approach is freezing it. Not a bad idea, and just go blessing whatever destiny comes or not.

    Of Timeless Now

Politics? No. Undoubtedly I'm not interested in those less passionate political role-playing games as my dumb life. Because I have no confidence to change the rule of that game, although we fella usually discuss democracy, human rights, or the president like we really care it and can do something. Nope, I'm too weak to wake up myself now. And the precious young is running out.

A lot of youths in the world probably dreamed to be a millionaire quickly, and tried then failed as I did. When I sat down on the edge of acquired autism, I blamed my selfish for everything. Actually the problem now is not "I'm not rich"; it's "I'm gonna be rich someday… for what?". At the top of the desire pyramid in my heart, self-fulfilled enjoyment is no more important. Social issues are always the paradox for an introvert like me. Most likely, the expression of those true feelings from deep heart to someone would be used as my ultimate success of social recognition. Maybe it was called "Love".

The matter could hardly be put with greater boldness or relevance to my special emotional reflections. It's meaningless life without a love inside when I know the Miss Right. Certainly, the best love story just exists in fairy tales. The reality we're facing is more complicated than feelings. I have to admit that the hurt from love is catastrophe to a person whatever it's strong enough or not.

There's no tragedy or comedy in a love since the actor and actress direct the play together. And the marriage is unmistakably a variant of what I'm talking about. Thus, my ridiculous theory is, devoting my soul into the love, no regretting, and expecting valueless in the ashes of time.

My Inexistence

The Day the Earth Stood Still時,我對那聊勝於無的軟科幻劇情毫無興致,分明就是衝著超大銀幕以及Keanu Reeves去的。

    The Road to Hayek's Serfdom

I can't remember how can I become a fan of Mr. Friedrich Hayek. Maybe his Law, Legislation and Liberty was too impressive for me in, my college reading. And his masterpiece about classical liberalism is also my favorite thesis on society and economy, whatever it was written 60 years ago.

By the way, Mr. Hayek looks like such so-called classical Nobel-prized economist, doesn't he?

    I LUV ABRAHAM OBAMA

Just after that remarkable Obama inauguration, I got this fancy portrait of Abraham Lincoln plus Barack Obama mix-up by funky artist Ron English. Maybe this is what we really expect on future from our global president. Yes, that's CHANGE.

Certainly, god bless our Abraham Obama, who shouldn't be shot by some clown at the end. Maybe I'll order a piece of such T-Shirt to show my support.

    The Lost Ways

    Einbahnstraße

People usually think differently as their predestined genes and unique minds. When I travel around somewhere, I think I am walking to the right way. But, others may think I'm walking in the wrong way, because I don't know where the right way is yet. This psycho test turns out, I'm an idealist with sort of narcissism. I guess it's true.

    Incomplete Mood that Completes Me

    Incomplete Mood that Completes Me
    maybe a love poem

frankly i'm sad being such a knowledgeable psycho:
    handsome in rich imagination,
    yet living in poor condition;
perhaps the spirit of liberty confused me in the influential teenage,
so i believe in the phrase that the god repeated: LOVE.
priding upon that I prefer sorta romantically loving someone.
    well, no reciprocal needed.
    instead of thanking the god,
    i only appreciate additionally rewarded,
a pleasant smile broking quietly over her lips,
when i may say: Please Complete Me.

paralysis? whatever, not so bad as to die young

worked here inevitability more than one and a half year, graduated here officially more than one year, lived here lonely more than half a year. what's going on the time?the truth is, the god command it anyhow.

sub-health, insomnia, depression or yadayada, never believe those theories until you meet every one gradually and pathetically. and the worst of the bad is the deterioration of my choice phobia disorder continuously. then the worst of the worst is the g0d-damn'd sleep paralysis as my daymare and nightmare as well as the destructiveness of the disorder itself to me. the evil sleep made me incredibly feel despair to the world. so should i believe the godfather to repent, or is that karma i deserve indeed?

i like tomorrow for nobody knows whether the god will change his mind to end the game. but jesus we know, for the hope i have to wait for it today always. ahaaa, a bad paradox. when i'm suffering the unconsciousness in sleep paralysis, theoretically my consciousness is awake and racing extremely over the ultimate universe in my mind like a mad formula one car. that is, i have enough intelligence to find that my mind is active in dream, as unfortunately there's no way back. in order to get out of the chaos, the ego here will crazily do something to wake up the body there, from taking self-abuse to committing suicide. don't worry about me, no more than a dream. perhaps it's a little complicated to know the actual principle in that ridiculous situation. however, i swear, there's no big differences with any other paralyses as we can see. it's a fighting and war in the borderline of the dream and reality. sometimes i trust mr freud like a poem, not every paradox is a game, as your brain burns in the midnight.

    That Chinese Complex Undertaking

It's always kinda complex for a paranoid, as I learn'd too much western knowledge, yet still was fond of any Chinese traditions; however, I'm so proud of being one. As the world can see, the great nation is eternal, upon the strong spirits when a disaster comes; in addition, I would innermostly pray for all involved in the earthquake catastrophe.

Being like a hybrid of cross-culture earthquake, the emotion of mine becomes drifted inevitably, even generating illusional nightmare. That yesterday once again, I have to break thru the painful circuit all senses within a simple &stupid dream, but in only a few minutes. I believe most complex theories in psychology and ethics, like Oedipus or Electra, but this complex will be different. The truth is, the evil in the heart reflects that deepest/hidden desire of unknown conscience. Chinese to the west, fortune to the ideal, those on a collision course might corrode any stainless soul. I believe that most thinkers in that post-Qing-Dynasty age would grin and bear the complex in chaos, like me. I doubt about the existence of that remedy, although the complex ought to ...

    Nobody Makes the Sun,

    The Sun Also Rises

Lavishly produced and imaginatively shot, the film will delight audience who enjoy extravagantly gorgeous imagery without the violence that usually accompanies it. Fluid motion and glorious colors provide a visual treat in Chinese New Wave director Jiang Wen’s sumptuous romantic fantasy "The Sun Also Rises", which screened at theaters worldwide recently. The first impression of the film makes me recall two things: the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway, and the movie of "In the Heart of the Sun" by the same director Jiang. I guess, there're somehow connections here and there.

The scenery drifts between fantastic Shangri-la villages and lonesome Gobi desert to follow four narratives exploring the roles during that mysterious culture and revolution years in Chinese history: a deranged young widow with her naïve son, two tragic college teachers over an attractive woman doctor, and then the magical texture of velvet in the 3rd tale. Everyone never knows the travelling back story in the desert years ago under the same sun.

We can see a people that were discouraged from feeling and expressing emotion, be it all through tragic circumstances or simply overcome by human desire. Loss and death could cause many of the characters to retreat inside themselves and discourage from doing anything emotionally. But we're emotional and passionate creatures and when we cannot dind one place we will find it in another and that always brings about consequences as well. Love and emotion doesn't always have to hurt but when it does, retreating into ourselves or to others doesn't mean the pain will go away either.

The most asked question of the film could be "Why did Teacher Liang suicide?". Relief? Dissatisfaction? Demonstration? Homicide? Oh, guys, don't expect to figure everything out, unless you put yourselves into that sun in the movie. By the way, I have to express my appreciation to Joe Hisaishi: all the music in the film are definitely appealing.

To sum up my feeling of this Chinese film, I need to quote the favorite song of Luciano Pavarotti - 'O Sole Mio!

    A Man Without A Country

“Like [that of] his literary ancestor Mark Twain, [Kurt Vonnegut’s] crankiness is good-humored and sharp-witted. . . . [Reading A Man Without a Country is] like sitting down on the couch for a long chat with an old friend.”

    [Editorial]Teaching Math, Singapore Style[NYT060918, A26]

    [Editorial]Teaching Math, Singapore Style[NYT060918, A26]

The countries that outperform the United States in math and science education have some things in common. They set national priorities for what public school children should learn and when. They also spend a lot of energy ensuring that every school has a high-quality curriculum that is harnessed to clearly articulated national goals. This country, by contrast, has a wildly uneven system of standards and test that varies from place to place. We are also notoriously susceptible to educational fads.

One of the most infamous fads took root in the late 1980's, when many schools moved away from traditional mathematics instruction, which required drills and problem solving. The new system, sometimes derided as "fuzzy math," allowed children to wander through problems in a random way without ever learning basic multiplication or division. As a result, mastery of high-level math and science was unlikely. The new math curriculum was a mile wide and an inch deep, as the saying goes, touching on dozens of topics each year.

Many people trace this unfortunate development to a 1989 report by an influential group, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. School districts read its recommendations as a call to reject rote learning. Last week the council reversed itself, laying out new recommendations that will focus on a few basic skills at each grade level.

Under the new (old) plan, students will once again move through the basics - addition, substraction, multiplication, division and so on - building the skills that are meant to prepare them for algebra by seventh grade. This new approach is being seen as an attempt to emulate countries like Singapore, which ranks at the top internationally in math.

All these references to Singapore are encouraging, given this country's longstanding resistance to the idea of importing superior teaching strategies from abroad. But a few things need to happen before this approach can succeed.

First of all, the United States will need to abandon its destructive practice of having so many math and science courses taught by people who have not majored in the subjects - or even studied them seriously.

We also need to fix the current patchwork system of standards and measurement for academic achievement, and make sure that students everywhere have access to both high-quality teachers and high-quality math and science curriculums that aspire to clearly articulated goals.

Until we bite the bullet ton those basic, critical reforms, we will continune to lose ground to the countries with which we must compete in the global information economy.

    [Editorial]Rated R, for Obscure Reason[NYT060908, A28]
